5 Reasons Why You Should Add Rangsaa to Your Fitness Regime

Fitness lifestyleIf you’ve wandered along your supermarket’s tea aisle over the past 5 years, you would have noticed a massive multiplication in the breadth and depth of choice in ‘herbal’ options, with mostly mundane and uninspiring flavor innovations.

We at Rangsaa are huge fans of powerful herbs, but were fed up of the weak, dusty flavours that ended up in ‘herbal’ infusions replete with chemicals and artificial substances. We realised there existed a gap in the market for innovative, 100% natural teas that also tasted delicious, loaded with the true power of herbs. A fitness and wellness movement, Rangsaa operates in a unique space. Our work revolves around an overarching aim to discover delicious yet effective ways to harness nature’s power in our teas.

Tea Aromatherapy – Find Your Balance With Rangsaa

tea-talk-10The practice of aromatherapy as an alternative medicine uses essential oils and aromatic plant extracts to heal, relax and improve one’s mood. From burning incense to fragrant oils, the tradition of aromatherapy has long been practised in temples, spas, meditation centres, hospitals etc. The popularity of aromatherapy has encouraged many to jump on to the bandwagon, labelling and selling synthetic candles, lotions and cosmetics for “aromatherapy”. These artificial products, naturally, do not have the properties the real herbs and oils do.

The many health benefits of aromatherapy make it hugely popular, such as its ability to reduce anxiety and depression, boost energy, eliminate headaches, induce sleep, reduce pain and strengthen immunity. And over the course of time, this simple ritual has paved it’s way to our homes – a practice aimed at healing and relaxing our bodies and mind.

Tea, a simple medium to achieve the meditative state, has been filling the need for an authentic way to aromatherapy. The healing and rejuvenating exercise is shifting to tea, with essential oils being infused into tea leaves, leading to an evolution in the diversity of flavors and aromas.

What makes tea such a soothing beverage is not just its taste nor the chemical compounds in the drink but the aromas and scents wafting from the cup, which go a long way in reducing stress. With each sip, the scents linger in the air, relaxing and energising the body and mind. The process of smelling the warm, rising aroma, is a process to connect with our inner selves, awaken from within and find a sense of harmony with nature.

This is the embodiment of aromatherapy in it’s most natural state. If you’re looking for something for vigour, vitality, healing, soothing or just lulling yourself to sleep, the task is as simple as bringing hot water to a boil and indulging in a fine cup of tea.

At Rangsaa, we strive to achieve the same sensory experience and mental balance with our all-natural blends. Our ingredients come alive in the water, bringing out layers of strong and complex aromas that are unique, reviving, soothing and relaxing, making way for the perfect, serene tea-time. Tea aromatherapy in all-natural way with no artificial essential oils or flavouring – this is the Rangsaa way. Just a medley of simple ingredients packed with 100% genuine love.

We believe our sense of smell plays a major role in our lives. The “smell” receptors in our nose communicate with parts of our brain (the amygdala and hippocampus) that serve as storehouses for emotions and memories. When you breathe in the aroma from a cup of Rangsaa, the receptors stimulate these parts of your brain and influence physical, emotional, and mental health. An important element of aromatherapy is synergy, a unique combination of a variety of aromas that can create an effect far more than that achieved by the oils on their own.

In today’s fast paced world, it is our effort to help people find balance and harmony of mind, body and spirit in a simple cup of Rangsaa. A journey from scratch to the molecular realm, Rangsaa aromas develop an all new character when brewed, with a unique burst of strong aromas that you’ve never experienced before. Brew our tea, find that perfect spot in the house and clear your mind of all worries. Dive into a journey of healing and wellness with a delectable and soothing aromatherapy experience. Jumpstart your journey of mindfulness with Rangsaa and experience the healing power of tea.

10 Benefits of Drinking Tea Over Coffee

tea-talk-7Tea is a great social adhesive, bringing friends and family together to sit and talk. Moreover, it’s benefits are plenty and rewarding for those who stay loyal to their cup. While coffee is a drink of choice for many, it is heartening to know 3 out of 5 coffee drinkers globally are now switching to tea. If you’re looking for reasons to sip cups of tea daily, we give you ten good ones:

1. Nourishes your body – Tea is good for you but beyond that general statement tea is absolutely the perfect beverage to improve your life, health and well-being. Tea’s rich antioxidants, multi-vitamins and minerals make it the ultimate whole body wellness drink.

2. Keeps you hydrated – Unlike coffee, tea actually hydrates your body, which proves a fundamental factor in enhancing focus. Tea replenishes your fluid intake since it’s pure water with a flavor. Moreover, it keeps your skin hydrated and glowing.

3. Detoxifies your body – Tea has been documented to contain a lot more antioxidants than are present in coffee. Antioxidants assist in clearing free radicals in the body, keep it healthy, help you feel fresh and luckily tea has lots of them!

4. Boosts energy and endurance – Contrary to popular belief, tea has the same amount of caffeine as coffee. However, coffee can bring you down once the initial high has subsided. The slow release of caffeine combined with tea’s main stimulants leaves you revved up but totally chilled out.

5. Clears your mind – You must have never heard anyone say, “I am going to go and relax with a cup of coffee.” Tea is known to be an anti-depressant – it calms your nerves and invigorates your body. So the next time you are looking to boost your mood, get a cup instead of hitting the bar.

6. Protects your bones – People who drink tea on a daily basis have stronger bones and are less likely to break their hip in the long run, due to the high levels of catechins in tea. Having 3-5 cups everyday is certain to keep your bones healthy.

7. Protects your teeth – Tea contains fluoride that protects your teeth and doesn’t stain them unlike coffee. A reasonable amount of tea will keep you and your teeth happy.

8. Strengthens the immune system – Tea is also known to be good at keeping your immunity strong. Drinking tea on a regular basis can sure protect you from frequent sickness. Plus you can include tea blends and tisanes in your diet that contain immunity boosting herbs like ginseng, licorice root, ginger etc.

9. Helps in maintaining weight – Unlike regular vanilla and hazelnut lattes that are loaded with high amounts of sugar and calories, tea is perfect in it’s form for the weight watchers and people who are switching to a cleaner lifestyle.

10. Let’s you drink more – And finally. Can you imagine if you drank five or six cups of coffee every day? Your heart would explode. Tea has higher diversity of flavor profiles and you can open your taste buds on a much wider scale with tea. From black and green teas to tea blends and even caffeine free herbal infusions, you are sure to find ones you like.

Leaves or beans, tea wins hands down. So ponder on all the information we leave you with, while we go grab a cup ourselves!

7 Power Tips to Boost Your Energy Levels

wellnessWho doesn’t want to have a limitless store of energy to accomplish their daily tasks, even after a busy, long day? Especially given the hectic schedules modern life subjects us to, most of us strive to maintain adequate levels of energy to achieve all that we set out for ourselves. Here are 7 ways you can naturally boost your energy levels and make space for your favourite activities everyday:

1. Get Moving – Exercise is one of the most effective ways to keep yourself fit and positive throughout the day. Even a 15 minute jog early in the morning is bound to keep your energy levels up all day. Join a gym, go for morning runs, practise a personal exercise regime – the options are plenty. Choose a workout plan that works the best for you and stick to it to keep feeling positive and motivated all day.

2. Drink Lots of Water – The importance of drinking water frequently cannot be stressed enough. Not only does it keep you healthy and hydrated, water also flushes toxins out and thus gives a feel-good vibe as it improves bodily functions. If you forget to drink enough water during the day, always keep a bottle of water close and take small sips at regular intervals.

3. Get More Sleep – If you often find yourself lethargic through the day, you may be short on suffering from a lack of adequate sleep. At least 6-8 hours of sleep everyday is necessary to work at optimal levels. You can also take short afternoon naps (15-20 minutes) to restart your system.

4. Tap into Plant Power – One of the best natural sources of defeating fatigue are adaptogenic herbs, plants that are widely used for their medicinal and healing properties. They are known to reduce anxiety, stress and fatigue. An excellent way of building natural energy without resorting to artificial stimulators is Ginseng or Ashwagandha and Gotu Kola or Brahmi. These herbs boost both mental and physical energy, increase your threshold for taking stress, boost metabolism and enhance immunity in the body.

5. Switch to Tea – Most of us in 9 to 5 jobs fall into the habit of intaking large quantities of caffeine or energy drinks to keep ourselves going. This is an unhealthy habit and can be substituted with tea instead. Tea is natural, has a lot of health benefits and is the best substitute for artificial drinks and sodas that only harm the body in the long run.

6. Eat Clean – If you want your body to perform optimally throughout the day, you have to fuel it right. Include as much organic and raw produce in your daily diet as you can and cut out processed and junk food. Say goodbye to artificial foods, salty and sugary foods and embrace veggies, fruits, nuts and healthy meats. You’ll be amazed to see how energetic you feel by paying special attention to what you eat.

7. Relax – Above all, don’t forget to take a deep breath! Take time out during different parts of the day to just relax and free your mind of all troubles. Stress-induced feelings and emotions eat into a lot of your energy and must be carefully pushed away. During times of chaos, taking a deep breath becomes paramount and is an ideal approach to bringing your energy levels bank to normal when they are lagging. So take 5 minutes off when you feel fatigue, take deep, long breaths and you’ll experience an instant surge in your energy levels as oxygen travels to your brain. It is a quick yet effective way to give yourself a wake-up call in the middle of a busy day!

Carob Tea – The Latest Superfood

Tea Talk

If you are my friend or have been following me on social media, you know that I love turning my healing herbal teas into a delicious treat as often as I can. Presently, one of the easiest ways for me to do that is to work with Carob.

What is Carob? Many people are familiar with this nature’s most delicious candy that grows on tree, and is used in desserts and beverages as a chocolate and sugar substitute. But did you know carob also makes a great tea? Things got very exciting at Love for Tea when our friends at Savvy Foods UK sent us 100% pure Australian carob goodies. With variation of carob in the form of nibbles, roasted powder and all-natural carob syrup, we had lot of fun to look forward to.

Carob is more than just a sweet substitute for chocolate. In fact, it’s use for health benefits goes back to 4,000 years. There is even mention of carob in the Bible as ‘St. John’s bread’ or ‘locust bean’. Carob is a priceless fruit with many health benefits. For starter, this natural sweet-treat contains more calcium than milk. The other benefits of carob include it’s ability to boost the immune system, reduce the risk of cancer, improve digestion, slow down ageing, prevent cardiovascular diseases, and help prevent and manage diabetes. For these reasons and more, carob is widely used throughout the world.

Carob tastes very similar to chocolate or cocoa powder. It’s got a sweet nutty flavor and it’s addition to tea certainly makes it more delicious, nutritious and even gives it an interesting flavor profile. To make a cup of refreshing carob tea just boil 2 tsp of carob nibbles in water for about 5 minutes. You would love eating the soft carobs in the end as they add sweet delight in your cup of tea. As Ice Tea, I enjoy carob with citrusy-sweet blend of fresh mint, lemongrass and orange. The addition of the carob syrup is equally good and brings about the same flavorful sweetness in tea. I love cooking with tea, so I couldn’t resist and also tried carob syrup as a glaze instead of honey in tea smoked chicken roast and it was absolutely wonderful. You must also try carob powder in smoothies and detox drinks. So, if you look at it carob is quite a versatile product that you can easily include in your diet.

Carob tea is delicious and I encourage you to explore it’s unique taste and flavor. Would really love you to drop a comment and share your favorite carob recipe! To learn more about carob check out www.savvyfoods.co.uk

Why Runners and Athletes Should Drink Tea

run lola run

When I talk about tea, you probably think about the desi milk-chai, with generous amount of milk and sugar. You don’t necessarily think about, say, runners and athletes. But that’s a misconception. You’ve definitely heard someone tell you that tea is good for you. But beyond that general statement, you perhaps don’t know that tea has number of performance enhancing benefits that make it especially ‘a must drink’ for all runners and athletes.

Science and real-time global case studies prove that drinking tea supports physical activity through its preventive functions. It aids in providing more energy for training, quicker recovery, and is an unmatched nutritional tool for better performance. Tea helps athletes with improved alertness, more strength and an extra surge of energy during long workouts. The very high dose of antioxidants help the body metabolise fats for fuel late in the workouts, for needed strength endurance.

2004 study found that tea improved endurance capacity. ”Tea markedly improved endurance capacity and stimulated lipid use.” And a 2006 study concluded that “the endurance-improving effects of tea were mediated, at least partly, by increased metabolic capacity and utilisation of fatty acid as a source of energy.” In simple language it basically means that tea was found to improve strength and endurance during aerobic activity, and that increased endurance was in part due to an increase in fat being burnt for energy.

Tea is fantastic and also a smarter choice than coffee, soda or energy drinks. It’s true that caffeine is a proven performance enhancer that increases endurance, improves alertness and makes running feel easier. Although tea provides only half as much caffeine as coffee or energy drinks, it makes you feel good at the right places without any side effects, such as acidity and bloating. The acid in coffee and energy drinks can be hard, leading to heartburn and upset stomach. So, if you look at it, tea is your all natural ‘power drink’ that offers a boost and can even make you healthier.

I believe tea is very personal. In my opinion, I would recommend that fitness enthusiasts should collect an assortment of teas – black, oolong, green, white and herbal blends, and see what they enjoy the most. Maybe it’s delicate green tea in the morning, oolong after a run, or a herbal blend without any caffeine to wind down after an evening run. And remember, quality counts in tea. So, make sure that you choose whole leaf, high quality, all natural, fresh and premium tea. For added flavour and health boost, try infusing your tea with fresh fruits, herbs and spices.

Get to know your tea, experiment and explore, develop your relationship and enjoy your fitness journey with tea. It is your all round performance drink. So, drink up and see how tea can step up your game!

Why Drink Tea?

Tea isn’t just a comforting and pleasant beverage, it is a ‘supersip’ that has remarkable healing properties. Whether it’s your ‘pick-me-up’ with the morning daily or your new sports drink, tea is the new ‘wonder drink’ that everyone must consume.

Tea is making a comeback because of it’s innumerous healthy and medicinal properties. New studies point to evidence that these healing properties have a scientific basis. The benefits of tea are largely due to the flavonoid content and antioxidant ingredients that are good for the body. These disease-fighting compounds help prevent certain cancers, keep your heart healthy, burn fat, sharpen your mind, and help your body beat the effects of aging and stress.

Tea does a body good. The facts are in and it’s definitely teatime!

Make Oolong Tea Your Fitness Companion

Oolong Tea Fitness

If you are working out and your trainer has asked you to drink coffee before you hit the gym, oolong tea is a worthy substitute to consider. There are many reasons why the athletes, fitness trainers, bodybuilders and health enthusiasts around the world, including the media cannonade, are promoting oolong tea as the new pre-workout jolt.

We all agree that our best gym workouts and fitness plans are sabotaged by our daily humdrum, which drains us out. Oolong tea reduces physical and mental fatigue, which makes it easier to sail through an intensive workout session and can be a great addition to the fitness enthusiast’s arsenal. This tea is incredibly healing and energizing, plus it contains the EGCG phytonutrient just like green tea, which helps your body turn fat into energy and remove toxins.

Oolong tea benefits pack more of a punch than any other tea. It is an excellent fitness drink – light and energizing, with just enough caffeine to kick-start your exercise routine. A cup of oolong tea before a workout does wonders to boost your energy. It enhances performance by improving endurance and alertness.

Many workout and health supplements have tea extracts in them, but what can be better than consuming 3-4 cups of pure organic oolong tea. Just steep your tea for 5 mins and drink it 15 minutes before your workout, or chill and enjoy it as ice-tea during your workout. It will leave you with a peaceful feeling without compromising on motivation and mental activity.

If you want to achieve results in a healthy and natural way, make sure you consume some tea before your workouts, to really take advantage of what this wellness tonic is capable of. Besides the above facts, Oolong tea has plethora of health benefits which include reduction of chronic health conditions such as heart disease, inflammatory disorders and high cholesterol levels. Though you might think that this is just a cup of oolong tea, it’s benefits will actually go a long way towards living a healthier life. After all, it’s not just tea, it’s the lifestyle we believe in and strive for!

Green TEA – What’s The Deal With This Superfood, Anyway?

Modern scientific research is finally beginning to study and confirm what the Chinese have espoused for thousands of years – Tea is a healthy beverage. Today, more and more scientific evidence proposes that tea has medicinal properties. Green tea in particular, usually referred to as the next ‘Superfood’ and ‘Nano Green Missiles’ by the medicine industry, is taking the health, medical, fitness and beverage industry by a storm.

You might ask, what’s the big deal? Green tea is rich in Catechins – molecules that bond with free radicals and act as powerful antioxidants to shield the body. Recent research indicates that tea protects against heart diseases and many types of cancer, reduces inflammation, lowers blood pressure & risk of diabetes, fights insomnia & hypertension, increases bone-density, calms digestion, improves brain function and boosts the immune system.

That’s a whole lot of valuable and proven reasons for the busy urban warrior to fight the modern diseases – by replacing soda and concentrated juices with just a healthy cup of Tea. So, go ahead and contribute to a healthier lifestyle.

Loose Whole Leaf Tea – The Art Of Tea

loose leaf vs tea bags

“A good cup of tea begins in delight and ends in wisdom”

If tea is a part of your life, as box of tea bags stacked in your cupboard, this blog would convince you to dig deeper and see just why tea is so deserving of our appreciation and respect.

We often ask what differentiates tea bags from whole leaf teas, why leaf tea is better than tea bags and why we need to make the switch? Let’s talk about some interesting facts and see if they can encourage you to give up that easy, quick, and aromatic cup of ‘blah- tea’, made from your favorite tea bag and inspire you to make the switch today.

Loose whole leaf tea is the most organic, pure, unprocessed and natural form of tea leaf available in nature. The whole leaves are unbroken, full of natural oils and antioxidants, with wide range of vitamins, minerals, flavors and aroma. So, when you steep the tea, the oils release from the leaves into a supreme quality liquor, resulting in much more rounded and full bodied flavor – which is more complex, with a top, middle and finish note. This kind of ‘unique tea experience’ cannot be achieved with tea bags, the tea that most tea drinkers are accustomed to.

A tea bag on the other hand is made from tea dust and fannings, that is characteristically really fine cut, almost granular tea. It is machine processed and is typically considered the lowest grade tea. The teeny-weeny pieces result in larger surface area resulting in more possibilities for the essential oils to evaporate, leaving the tea dull and stale, without any beneficial properties.

In a traditional tea factory, the tea production and processing involves different processes like roasting, firing, cooking and so forth. These procedures create lot of dust in the air, which eventually falls on the ground. This dust is further collected in giant piles and is reserved for being used in tea bags.

Now, that I’ve debunked your thoughts on tea, may I remind you that most of the research one reads about tea, especially green tea, is derived on the studies based on whole leaf tea and not tea bags. So, be smart, drink right and discover health, happiness and contentment in a perfect cup of tea.
