REVIEW – Formosa GABA Oolong by Grey’s Teas

Grey's Teas

Description of Tea
The dry leaves are small, tightly rolled pellets, with shades of olive green and brown. The texture and color is uniform, suggesting a high quality GABA. The leaves are beautiful, with well-developed fruity, floral and herbaceous aroma.

Infused Tea/Unique Characteristics
The tiny balls unfurl into full leaves, about 2-2.5 inch in length, resulting in a vibrant golden-yellow liquor.  The top clean citrus and green notes, with mild caramel and hay-like aroma, provide a supple sweetness and an extraordinary buttery mouthfeel. Unmarred by bitterness and astringency, the delightful medley of complex, delicate flavours, leave a slight chill in the mouth. Very interesting tea!

Infusion
One tsp of leaves were infused in 230 ml pre-boiled water at 80C for 5 minutes. I got four well-balanced infusions which were delectably sweet and smooth. The second infusion being my personal favorite. The aroma and flavours were strikingly consistent throughout.

GABA Oolong is a very popular tea from Taiwan, and I believe it’s love must keep growing. Many might be unaware that this high mountain oolong is made with extraordinary skills, where leaves are exposed to nitrogen, instead of oxygen, during the traditional oxidation process – a technique developed in Japan in 1987. This process is done to design the tea to be high in GABA (Gamma-amino butyric acid), an amino acid that helps calm the nerves and relax the body. This tea is delicious, meditative and perfect for all seasons!

Oolong Tea Fitness

If you are working out and your trainer has asked you to drink coffee before you hit the gym, oolong tea is a worthy substitute to consider. There are many reasons why the athletes, fitness trainers, bodybuilders and health enthusiasts around the world, including the media cannonade, are promoting oolong tea as the new pre-workout jolt.

We all agree that our best gym workouts and fitness plans are sabotaged by our daily humdrum, which drains us out. Oolong tea reduces physical and mental fatigue, which makes it easier to sail through an intensive workout session and can be a great addition to the fitness enthusiast’s arsenal. This tea is incredibly healing and energizing, plus it contains the EGCG phytonutrient just like green tea, which helps your body turn fat into energy and remove toxins.

Oolong tea benefits pack more of a punch than any other tea. It is an excellent fitness drink – light and energizing, with just enough caffeine to kick-start your exercise routine. A cup of oolong tea before a workout does wonders to boost your energy. It enhances performance by improving endurance and alertness.

Many workout and health supplements have tea extracts in them, but what can be better than consuming 3-4 cups of pure organic oolong tea. Just steep your tea for 5 mins and drink it 15 minutes before your workout, or chill and enjoy it as ice-tea during your workout. It will leave you with a peaceful feeling without compromising on motivation and mental activity.

If you want to achieve results in a healthy and natural way, make sure you consume some tea before your workouts, to really take advantage of what this wellness tonic is capable of. Besides the above facts, Oolong tea has plethora of health benefits which include reduction of chronic health conditions such as heart disease, inflammatory disorders and high cholesterol levels. Though you might think that this is just a cup of oolong tea, it’s benefits will actually go a long way towards living a healthier life. After all, it’s not just tea, it’s the lifestyle we believe in and strive for!

REVIEW – Oolong Tea By Teatulia

Tea Review

Description of Tea
The dry leaves are dark, long and twisted, with hints of silver and golden tips. The aroma is woody and toasty, with a hint of spice.

Infused Tea/Unique Characteristics
When infused, the leaves yield moderately full bodied, golden – brownish liquor, that has a natural roasted and smoky characteristic. The top clean notes, along with creamy taste, lightly citrus-tinged sweet undertone, provide a rich mouth-feel and a lovely bittersweet after-taste.

Infusion
One pyramid bag was infused in 230 ml, pre-boiled water (90-95 C), for 3 minutes. When steeped four times, the infusion felt thick in the mouth and developed in it’s flavor. It’s a fine oolong and tastes more rich without loosing presence of it’s key personalities and color.

RECIPE – Tea Sangria, Summer Party Special!

tea Sangria, tea recipe

“Drinking tea with a pinch of imagination!” – 50 Ways to Drink Tea

This is one of my favorite tea recipes for summer- it’s my refreshing Spice Tea Sangria. It has beautiful notes of many flavors of herbs, fruits and cinnamon, with refreshing and citrousy aftertaste.

KEY INGREDIENTS
3 Tbsp Black Tea (Black tea is preferred in infusions, as it goes well with strong flavors of fruits and spices)
2 Cinnamon sticks
3 Sliced Oranges
1 cup Sliced Peaches
1 cup Sliced Strawberries
3 Sliced Lemons
Mint leaves
Organic Sugar
Red Wine (Optional)

PREPARATION
In a teapot or jar, add tea leaves to pre-boiled water and steep for 4 minutes. Strain out leaves and let tea cool to room temperature, then chill in the refrigerator for several hours or overnight. Combine all ingredients in a large pitcher. Top it with lots of mint leaves. Pour into ice-filled glasses. Makes 5 to 6 servings. Also, you can use oolong tea instead of black tea, if desired. Choose a lightly oxidized/fermented oolong to complement the sangria’s fruity, spicy flavors.

BEST ENJOYED
Summer parties along with summer dresses, with good music and company. It’s simple and perfect for moments when you want to surprise someone, give them some tea inspiration or just party away the summer!
